{"id":3439,"date":"2020-03-31T06:00:44","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T04:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/archive.astrocent.edu.pl?p=3439"},"modified":"2020-07-03T16:24:49","modified_gmt":"2020-07-03T14:24:49","slug":"internships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.astrocent.edu.pl\/?p=3439","title":{"rendered":"Student internship opportunities at AstroCeNT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">AstroCeNT invites ambitious students to apply for funded internships to take part in our research activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">AstroCeNT\u2019s two main physics themes are <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><b>dark matter<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> and <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><b>gravitational waves<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">, which provide avenues to study the most important questions in physics. In the context of dark matter, we offer internship projects ranging from particle physics theory, experimental data analysis and simulation, development of novel dark matter detectors based on modern technologies, through exploring other applications of such technologies, for example in medical physics. We also develop arrays of sensitive seismometers to assist large interferometric detectors of gravitational waves. Additionally, modern classical and quantum machine learning methods are studied and being applied in the aforementioned areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"_GoBack\"><\/a> <span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">If you are a level 2 or PhD student interested in applying for an internship project please contact AstroCeNT at <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><b>internships@astrocent.pl<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> and briefly tell us (in English):<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">who you are,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">what areas of research interest you the most,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">why do you want to do your internship at AstroCeNT.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">Typical duration of the internship is <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><b>three<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"> months but other options (ranging from one month up to even twelve months) may be considered, depending on the project and applicant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\">Successful candidates will receive a studentship of between 1500 and 2500 PLN per month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application deadline is 18 July 2020.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AstroCeNT invites ambitious students to apply for funded internships to take part in our research activities.
